The accident occurred yesterday between Loko and Jabi Lamba while the duo were on their way back to the state capital Yola from Hong where they had gone on a condolence visit.
The accident involved four vehicles — a security car, an ambulance and two others— which rammed into each other after one of them first hit a commercial vehicle.
Details were scanty at press time but one source said the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital where the four were confirmed dead. Some others were placed on the danger list.
Atiku lauds Nigerians on democracy
Meanwhile, Vice President Atiku addressing a Democracy Day rally at the Mohammed Ribadu Square, Yola gave Nigerians a pat on the back for working tirelessly to ensure the maintenance of democratic structures.
He specifically commended President Olusegun Obasanjo and the entire political class, and credited them with the success of the democratic experience.
He observed that the political class irrespective of party affiliations had over the years individually and collectively demonstrated unity of purpose in ensuring that democracy culture was imbibed by Nigerians.
The Vice President also appreciated the roles exhibited by the three tiers of government and the entire citizenry.
He, however, charged Nigerians, particularly politicians, the three arms of government, the organised labour, youths and other progressive forces not to allow anti democratic forces to hijack the affairs of the polity through dubious manner in their desperate move to hold on to power.
The Vice President said the controversial third term bid was aborted because Nigerians were prepared to embrace true democracy, saying democracy had accelerated development.
Earlier, Governor Boni Haruna of Adamawa State commended the people for their support and co-operation with his administration in the last seven years, saying, the modest achievements of his government could not have been possible without the support of the governed.
