Jigawa NPC begins area demarcation
The National Population Commission (NPC) has started to demarcate areas in Jigawa ahead of the 2005 population and housing census.
Four local government areas have been selected in the first round of the exercise which will be completed within four weeks.
The areas are Dutse, Birnin Kudu, Buji and Gwaram.
The NPC Director in the state, Mr Muhammadu Sada, told Newsmen in Dutse on Tuesday that the exercise was essential in ensuring accurate and acceptable head count.
The commission, he said, had mapped out strategies to ensure a hitch-free exercise.
The demarcation, he explained, was designed to outline enumeration areas in each council area for the smooth conduct of the census.
The NPC had deployed 69 teams of officials and completed training of some 215 ad hoc staff for the successful take-off of the project, the director said.
``The officials have been provided with some 115 measuring wheels, 100 compasses and global positioning system facilities to make it a success,'' he stated.
Sada maintained that the exercise would be completed in all the 27 council areas of the state before the end of July.
