BON leads in Hajj BTA issuance -Bura
Bank of the North Limited has taken the lead again as the major provider of basic Travel Allowance (BTA) to this year's Muslim pilgrims across the country.
According to a press release signed by Alhaji Baffa B. Muhammad, the Principal Manager Corporate Affairs, total of 46,521 pilgrims out of the 65,000 pilgrims nationwide were issued their BTA by the bank representing over 71.5 per cent of the overall total nationwide. This had been in line with prervious years the release added.
The release also noted that the staff of the bank in all the issuing branches worked round the clock to ensure the success of the exercise.
Bank of the North Limited has over the years served majority of the pilgrims because of its policy of zero commissions' charges and effective handling of the exercise, Bura added.
State pilgrims welfare agencies who sourced BTA for their pilgrims, the release said expressed satisfaction with the Bank services during the exercise.
Meanwhile a number of the Welfare Agencies have also written to commend the bank on the success of the exercise, the latest coming from Sokoto Pilgrims Welfare Agency which awarded a plaque to the bank for meritorious and efficient issuance of BTA for the state pilgrims, it concluded.
