…First batch arrives MAKIA
By UMORU IBRAHIM
THE first batch of pilgrims from Kano zone who participated in this year’s Hajj arrived Malam Aminu Kano International Airport in the early hours of yesterday.
The pilgrims totalling 503 from Bauchi sate were said to be in high spirit on their arrival which was an indication that all was well while in Saudi Arabia.
According to a reliable source, the second batch who would still comprise pilgrims from Bauchi state were being expected to arrive in the latter hours of yesterday.
Our correspondent who visited the Hajj camp later, reports that a number of pilgrims were seen shopping in local shops at the camp because most of them consider some of the items cheaper here than in Saudi Arabia.
Our findings have shown that while a number of the pilgrims had since left for Bauchi, some have however, chosen to wait till the arrival of their luggage. A source at the camp told Daily Triumph that there would be early arrival of luggage as the cargo handler, Salim Aviation has been directed by the Directorate of Pilgrims Affairs to ensure early delivery of luggage.
In another development, the first batch of Jigawa pilgrim who went through international arrangement have also arrived midnight yesterday.
The pilgrims who arrived by 10pm via a chartered aircraft are mainly Jigawa state government-sponsored pilgrims.
