Adedibu, while speaking with the Nigerian Tribune on the telephone, said his rumoured sickness was the handiwork of his detractors, stressing that “they will never succeed in their unholy enterprise.”
According to him, trasversing every nook and cranny of the state during the campaign for the last general election to solicit for the support of the people of Oyo State for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) informed his decision to take some time off to rest.
He added that “what my detractors have failed to also realise is the fact that for every labour, there must be a rest and so, if I decide to take some rest, why should they take it as a sign of critical illness?”
He said his advanced age made it necessary for him to rest and reduce stress unlike before.
The media was awash with reports that the Ibadan politician was critically ill over the past few weeks just as it was also said that he was hospitalised at the National Hospital, Abuja, while other reports said he would be flown abroad for urgent medical attention.
While not denying that he would soon travel abroad to take some rest, Adedibu dismissed the report that he was going to seek urgent medical attention, pointing out that he had gone to Abuja to attend to certain issues relating to his party as well as obtain documents to facilitate his overseas trip.
