AN ex-Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Lagos branch, Emmanuel Ofolue, and a former director, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc., Emmanuel Nwude, have been docked before the state’s High Court, Igbosere, on allegation that they offered bribe to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) Chairman, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, and an operative, Ibrahim Lamorde.
Eric Ikhilae, Lagos - 17.07.2007
The duo, against whom a six-count criminal charge has been filed, were taken before Justice Kayode Ogunmekan, on Monday but their plea were not taken.
Their counsel, Mr. Fred Agbeyegbe, applied for their bail which was opposed by Bayo Ojo, counsel to the prosecuting agency, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).
Ojo consequently asked for an adjournment of the case, as he needed time to respond to the motion for bail filed by the accused persons.
Justice Ogunmekan, adjourned the matter till 23 July, 2007.
