Abia govt tackles Maduekwe, others
Abia State government has debunked claim by the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ojo Maduekwe, that it was the state government that blocked Federal Government support for the state.
Biola Azeez, Umuahia - 13.09.2006
The government, in a statement, said that it was Chief Maduekwe and other critics of the government who deliberately misinformed the presidency and incited the federal authority against the state because of their inordinate ambition.
Reacting to a statement credited to Cheif Maduekwe and some PDP chieftains in the state last week in Ohafia, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Orji Kalu, Mr. Onuoha Udeala, said it was shameful that they could not attract any single federal project to their state despite working with the President for over seven years.
Mr. Udeala noted particularly that it was Chief Maduekwe that blocked the establishment of the dry port at Isiala Ngwa when he was the Minister for Transport because of political disagreement with the state government.
The Chief Press Secretary said that the recent media onslaught against Governor Kalu by the PDP in the state was aimed at inciting the Abia State people against the government.
