The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Sunday Ehindero, on Tuesday appealed to the Federal High Court in Abuja to give him till October 9 to react to a suit filed by parents of Tunde Omojola who accused him of failure to investigate allegation of murder against Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose.

Fayose was alleged to have personally participated in the assassination of Omojola on May 28, 2005 in Ekiti. But the police are being accused of refusing to make public the outcome of investigation into the murder.
The parents of the deceased, Mr. Kayode Omojola and his wife, Sola, are presently before the court for an order of mandamus to compel Ehindero not only to investigate the allegation and make the outcome public, but to also prosecute those indicted.
The police boss who was expected in court on Tuesday with a counter-affidavit explaining why the order of mandamus must not be issued against him said he would need a little more time to prepare his defence.
He requested for an adjournment to enable him to access the case-file.
Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako granted the request and fixed October 9 as the return date.
Mr Ibrahim Bako represented the Inspector-General of Police in court.
