Special Olympics trials to hold in Lagos
ARRANGEMENTS have been concluded for a national championship to be held in Lagos, next week, for the selection of athletes who will dorn Nigeria's colours at next year's Special Olympics Summer Games in China.

Making this known recently, National Director, Special Olympics, Folashade Bolumole, said the journey would help in selecting athletes and also prepare them ahead of the championship in China.
She, however, lamented the society's poor attitude to the plight of special athletes, saying the association has been starved of funds.
Bolumole added that the association was set up in 2001 to explore the potentials of physically challenged athletes in sports and to enhance their development. She said that aside sporting activities, the association, in conjunction with Lion Club, would provide health service to the athletes.
"We want people to know that Special Olympics is not in the business of sports alone but also to change the life of special athletes in the country," she stressed.
She then called on government and corporate bodies to assist the association in executing some of its programmes.
