Nigeria seek new coach
ABUJA, Sept 6 (SW) – Nigerian football is in the process of attempting to sort out its political squabbles and uncertainties.

The first step as seen by the footballing authorities is to seek a new coach. However, that may not be as simple as all that. The present coach Austin Eguavoen cannot be sacked until the nine months salary still owing to him is eventually settled.
He began his tenure as coach last year, but has been unsure of his future as a result of the ongoing feud between the sports administrators, ministry of sport and the Nigerian Football Association (NFA).
Despite the uncertainty over his future Nigeria did manage to finish third in the African Nations Cup in Egypt earlier this year.
They failed to qualify for Germany 2006 however.
On Saturday, Nigeria’s qualification started off well when they beat Niger 2-0 in their first match of the qualifying round for the 2008 African Nations Cup to be held in Ghana.
