Lambo made the appeal through Nike Adeyemi, director of Hospital Services, during the inauguration of the center's new management board.
"WHO, in line with the MOU [memorandum of understanding] signed with the federal government of Nigeria in 2002, is expected to release US$10,000 for research activities, and US$25,000 for foreign staff employed to work in the center," he said.
The center, however, had yet to receive the funds.
Idowu Koledade, chairman of the center, said the new board was ready to begin training activities.
The center was commissioned in 1998. It is located in Jos, in northern Nigeria.
