Don’t Sell Trade Fair Complex, Lagos House Tells FG
Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have called on the state governor, Babatunde Fashola (SAN), to take "all legal and constitutional means" to stop the Federal Government from selling the International Trade Fair Complex and other edifices that are built for public interests in the state.

Reacting to a letter to the Clerk of the House, Taiwo Olatunji, by some concerned citizens of the state, the Majority Leader, Kolawole Taiwo, described the selling of the edifice as "an insult and a slap on the faces of Lagosians", adding that anywhere in the world, international trade fair serves as the pivot of economic growth.
"It is a fountain of business activities and its (the complex) sale can be equated to economic suicide. It is advisable that President Umaru Yar’Adua should not be teleguided negatively by the immediate past administration," he stated.
In their contributions, Ahmed Omisore and Babatunde Ogala, urged the people of the state to also help the House by agitating against the selling of the property, saying it is a way of denying them their right.
The other members who opposed the proposed sale of the complex are Olowo Rotimi and Olawale Alawiye-King.
They were of the view that the "House needs to be proactive in its decision", noting that the Federal Government must to be advised to concede some of these structures to the state government.
Meanwhile, the Chief Whip, AbdurRasaq Balogun, hinted that the Lagos State Government can inscribe "Caveat Emptor" on some of the structures with a view to scaring away prospect buyers of the edifices.
