Senate committee to embark on gas flaring areas tour soon
SENATE committee on Gas has said it will soon embark on a nationwide gas flaring profile tour of the country in order to give a boost to the 2008 flare-out deadline adopted by the Federal Government.
DENNIS NAKU, P/Harcourt
Acting chairman of the committee, Senator Farouk Bello Bunza disclosed this during a three day capacity building workshop for the gas committee members at Le Meridien Hotel, Port Harcourt in Rivers State.
According to him the committee would, in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders, impose stiff penalties through appropriate legislation by January 1 2008; saying the planned tour would enrich their view and give members better knowledge to facilitate the phase out exercise.
